The house’s traditional exterior dates from the Meiji Era, but the interior has been refurbished in an unconventional arrangement to incorporate modern elements.

There are multiple places to relax inside the house depending on your mood. Sit down in the study, and you’ll feel as if you are a full time resident of Kazuemachi.

Both banks of the Asano River are lined with cherry blossom trees, as well as gas street lamps that convey the romantic feel of the Taishō Era in the early 20th century. The Asano River Bridge, a registered tangible cultural property, is directly visible from the second-floor tatami room.

The sky in Kanazawa constantly changes throughout the day, repeating rain and sunshine. This is why locals are known to say, “Never forget your umbrella, even if you forget your lunchbox.”
